About Old Hickory Dock & Lift
Old Hickory Dock & Lift is a locally owned dock builder serving Old Hickory Lake and the Sumner County shoreline near Hendersonville, Tennessee. We repair, rebuild, and build floating docks, and we do the shoreline and anchoring work that keeps them in place, because that is what this lake actually needs.
This is a federal reservoir. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers impounded the Cumberland River behind Old Hickory Lock and Dam in 1954 and manages the shoreline and the docks on it. The water is riverine, with a steady through-current, and the Corps runs the pool for flood control, so an upstream release can raise the level several feet in a day. A dock here is a permit question as much as a building question, and not every lot can carry a private dock at all. We work to the permit and to the water.
We are licensed and insured in Tennessee. We quote every job in writing before work starts. We replace old bare-foam floats with sealed encapsulated units, use galvanized and stainless hardware that survives a lake, and size new docks to your shoreline classification. And we tell you plainly when a repair is better money than a rebuild, because the long way around is not how we want to earn your work.
